Did you know this about the Coroner?

– The Coroner and the Sheriff are the only two constitutional law enforcement positions elected directly by the people.  Everyone else is hired or appointed.

– The Coroner and the Sheriff are compatible offices.

– The Coroner is the only one who can arrest the Sheriff.

– If the Sheriff or designated deputy is unable to perform their duties the coroner becomes the Acting Sheriff as well as the Acting Ward of the county jail until an election or appointment for a new Sheriff.
